The various accommodations were very good and we really enjoyed our stays at Hellnar where we had 6 Orcas hunting off shore and the farm at Stong surrounded by Iceland wildlife where we took some great photos. Here we talked with the owners about local wildlife and the farming economy and the food here was very good. Everywhere we stayed was clean and welcoming.
We visited many highlights as you suggested but for us both it was unbelievable to see so many bird species that are rare or non-existent in the UK. We saw and photographed them all! The Whale Trip with North Sailing was really good and we had 8 Humpbacked Whales feeding out from Husavik – a great experience.
The car hire was fine and no problems apart from the fine we picked up going through the tunnel north of Akureyri (linking email to follow on this).

Everything was like clock work from the moment we stepped off the plane. We did not have a single problem with any of the bookings and greatly enjoyed every single tour we went on. We feel that Sveindis perfectly selected the companies for our bookings and would highly recommend each one. We took a domestic flight from Reykjavík to Egilsstaðir which was exceptional, and picking up the rental car in Egilsstaðir was very easy. We drove from Egilsstaðir back to Reykjavík over 5 days and absolutely LOVED our time in Iceland. We were able to experience kayaking on Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, a glacier hike on Sólheimajökull, horseback riding at Eldhestar, and a trip to Blue Lagoon. My experience with KimKim and with Sveindis María far exceeded my expectations. I was honestly blown away by how lovely everything turned out and would very highly recommend them both. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for helping us create such an unforgettable trip. We will never forget it!”

The hints of things to see and do were very helpful. The food was fabulous and enjoyed the breakfast offered at each hotel. Appreciated Caroline’s suggestion to go clockwise around the island. It worked out perfectly and we saw the northern lights 6 nights. Fosshotel Nupar was the best for them and wish we could’ve stayed their 2 nights. Mostly wish we had more time and could’ve had more days to explore areas. Just gives a reason to come back. Fosshotel Siglo and Fosshotel Eastjords were my favorite hotels. Since itwas a self drive tour we could adjust our plans based on what happened each day. Highlights besides the countryside and drives with stops along the way, numerous waterfalls (breathtaking and each unique), sheep, and birds was the Diamond Beach, Petras stone museum, helping herd sheep, Vatnsnes cave tour, hiking in Dimmuborgir and Dynjandi falls.”

We discovered truly extraordinary food in Hotel Borealis. The hotel itself was a comfortable but not exceptional lodge – with a fabulous view down the valley – but the chef was a wonder with both vegetables and meat. The meal there was unmatched and I think will be unmatched long after we return home. To add to it, our waiter was a delight.
Our 2 most beautiful rooms were both in Fosshotels – at Hőfn and Eastfjords. The Eastfjords hotel has an intetesting museum attached and built into it. Though the weather was rainy, the fjords here were really beauffiful. We recommend exploring them all and not being deterred by gravel roads.
The lava flows and craters at Krafla, the one desolate and the other awe inspiring, were fascinating as was the intricate shoreline of the Myvatn lakes.
The slow reclamation of the lava fields by lichen, moss and wildflowers was interesting to see as we moved from very recent to very old fields. The coastline on the roads to the Westfjords is not to be missed.
We heartily recommend the Settlement Cafe and associated museum in Borganes and the food at the Reykholt Fosshotel. Best salad in Iceland.”

The ease of hotel check in, car rental and all the ferry schedules and tickets were perfect. Each hotel offered a great breakfast to start our day, for the many km’s we drove and walked. Grimsey Island the best for the unbelievable amount of puffins and how close we could actually get to take photos. Each different city or town we stayed in, seemed to be better than the last, each offering something different and unique. Food choices were vast, delicious and prices very comparable to Canada. This vacation by far exceeded our expectations. Thanks again Caroline,(so glad we got to meet you as well).

My son chose Iceland as a place he wanted to visit and Caroline made sure that we were able to enjoy so many activities while we were there. The hotels she booked were great, as well as making sure we have a rental car waiting for us. The itinerary was easy to follow and there was even a day in there that we decided to skip the suggested activity and relax in the town we were currently in. That made it easy to be able to adjust and move on to the next activities. I certainly want to go back now and know that we would not have even thought of all these things to do in Iceland if it wasn’t for Caroline setting this up.”

She was even available while we were on the road in Iceland to provide tips on last-minute excursions. We loved the Fosshotels. Out favorite was Fosshotel Eastfjords right on the water. We stayed at the Ice Hotel Marina before we started the Ring Road Road self driving tour and when we returned. It was unique, contemporary and fun…close to everything. The excursions suggested were perfect leaving us time to do things on our own too. We ventured to the north fjords which were not planned and are glad we did. Amazingly beautiful country with small towns and history. Iceland’s country changes at every turn. Blue lagoon was fun (pretty crazy busy), the lava tube
was a must see.
