Daily itinerary
Day 1:
After arrival at Keflavik international airport, transfer to Reykjavik City by airport shuttle bus. Accommodation in a hotel in Reykjavík where you will stay the next 4 nights. If arriving in the afternoon then there is a possibility for an evening Northern lights tour, weather permitting.
Day 2:
After breakfast pick up for the Daytour to Snæfellsnes peninsula. This is a part of the country which would be best described as “miniature Iceland”. Here we can find most of the natural phenomena that can be found around Iceland: Bird cliffs, spectacular mountains and volcanic craters, black and white beaches, charming fishing villages and the Snæfellsjökull glacier/volcano, famous from Jules Vernes story as the intrance to the centre of the Earth.
Day 3:
After breakfast pick up for the The Golden Circle daytour. We visit the famous Geyser area where hot springs are in abundance and where we get the chance to see one of them, Strokkur spouting every 5-10 minutes. Another highlight of the day is Gullfoss waterfall which falls in two cascades into the deep gorge of Hvítá river. It is particularly majestic in winter months when partly bound in the ice. The Þingvellir national park is a place of great historic importance as the site of the oldest parliament and geological interest.
Day 4:
Breakfast at the hotel. Free day to explore Reykjavik city or possibility for an optional excursion.
After a long day you may want to take it easy on this day and have an optional tour to the Blue Lagoon where you can relax in the pleasantly warm geothermal water of the lagoon located in the middle of a lava field.
If you wish for more excitement and an active day then there are several other possibilities. To name a few options:
– a tour along south shore with a glacier walk;
– horseback riding tour;
– daytour to Langjökull glacier and into the ice cave (incl. a 1-1½ hour Monster truck ride on the glacier);
– Lava tube caving; or descend inside the volcano Þríhnúkagígur;
– super jeep tour and snowmobiling on the glacier;
– a 3-hour evening northern lights tour; or a 7-hour evening tour to the Fontana spa with chance for northern lights
…and more!
