Daily itinerary

Day 1:
The departure of flight Reykjavík Domestic airport to Narsarsuaq.
Check-in time is at least 1,5 hours before flight departure.
Upon arrival at Narsarsuaq airport transfer to the harbour and by boat to Narsaq (approx. 1-hour sailing).
Accommodation in Narsaq for the first 2 nights.

Day 2:
Free day in Narsaq.
Narsaq is a beautifully situated town on a fertile flat area that ends abruptly at the feet of the large mountains. “Kvanefjeld” mountain is famous due to the large concentration of rare stones and minerals. Here you can find the beautiful, pink gemstone “Tugtupit”. There are several short and long hiking tours around Narsaq, but Narsaq is also surrounded by ice! From the town itself you can see the ice cap in the horizon, and the fjord is very often filled up with icebergs from the surrounding glaciers; an amazing sight. The museum is in an old colony houses around the old harbour and is definitely worth a visit.
Possibility for an additional optional boat tour to the “Twin Glacier” or an Evening Iceberg Safari.

Day 3:
Boat transfer from Narsaq to Qaqortoq (duration about one hour). Afternoon free to explore the beautiful town of Qaqortoq.
Accommodation in Qaqortoq for the next 2 nights.

Day 4:
Free day in Qaqortoq.
Around the town, the visitor will meet sculptures being a part of the famous project “Stone & Man”, where different sculptors have made the town a big sculpture park. You could visit tannery and sewing facilities for creating beautiful sealskin clothes. Greenland’s oldest fountain is situated at the town square next to the harbour. Here you can sit and watch the hunters and fishermen arriving with today’s catch for the market.
Possibility for an additional optional boat tour to the old ruins of Hvalsey Church or boat tour to the Twin Glacier.

Day 5:
Boat transfer from Qaqortoq to Itilleq. From here you walk the 4 km along the “King’s Road” to Igaliku. The hike is easy, but you can also get a ride with the car, which is transporting your luggage. Igaliku is one of the most beautiful villages in Greenland! The beautiful houses are situated in a green bay with luscious grassland. On the other side of the fjord towers the landmark Illerfissalik.
Accommodation in Igaliku for the next 2 nights.

Day 6:
Free day in Igaliku.
In Igaliku there are very impressive ruins from the Norse period. There is a small museum in the church which is worth visiting. Today the village thrives on sheep farming. An optional day hike (15-20 km) goes to the Plateau, from where there is a superb view of the Qooroq Ice fjord, the stranded icebergs on the moraine and the enormous glacier at the head of the fjord. On the way back, you can be lucky to find minerals and stones, for instance, the shining “moonstone” (Labradorit).

Day 7:
Return by the King’s Road to Itilleq harbour from where the boat will take you to Qassiarsuk where the Viking Eric the Red settled in 982. The Norse ruins are well preserved, and the open-air museum can be visited on your own (admission is included). The inhabitants earn their livelihoods from sheep farming, but the village also has a school, a shop and a church. Late afternoon boat transfer to Narsarsuaq.
Accommodation in Narsarsuaq for 1 night.

Day 8:
Check out of the room.
Boat trip to the Qooroq Ice Fjord. A boat trip among icebergs of all colours, sizes and shapes. When the glacier is in view, you can enjoy the absolute silence and a drink chilled with glacier ice – more than 1,000 years old! You can spend the rest of your stay enjoying a cup of coffee or visiting the museum in Narsarsuaq.
Flight from Narsarsuaq to Iceland.
