Reflection of the distant eruption (©AMK)
The eruption at Holuhraun in the northern highlands is an exciting event. Only scientists are permitted on the site for the moment and sightseeing air tours only are available for everybody elseto see the actual eruptions.
However, on clear nights the glow from the distant volcanic eruption can be seen even from many places in North Iceland. A drive into Bárðardalur Valley late in the evening was rewardedby the fantasic red reflection in the sky half way through the valley. Adding to the excitment of the evening was a beautifull display of the northern lights.
