This morning started in a rather unusual way. We decided to observe the once-in-a-lifetime event of a solar eclipse. Iceland expcerienced about 97% eclipse and we were all hoping for favourablecloudless weather. Though rather cloudy over Eyjafjörður as we woke up this morning, the clouds dispersed slowly and by the time the solar eclipse started almost disappeared. Ready with thesolar eclipse glasses and other practical homemade eye-protection gear we took our positions and followed the event for well over an hour.
