Narsaq is a beautifully situated town on a fertile flat area that ends abruptly at the feet of the large mountains. “Kvanefjeld” mountain is famous due to the large concentration of rare stones and minerals. Here you can find the beautiful, pink gemstone “Tugtupit”. There are several short and long hiking tours around Narsaq, but Narsaq is also surrounded by ice! From the town itself you can see the ice cap in the horizon, and the fjord is very often filled up with icebergs from the surrounding glaciers; an amazing sight. The museum is in an old colony houses around the old harbour and is definitely worth a visit.

Here you can sit and watch the hunters and fishermen arriving with today’s catch for the market.

An optional day hike (15-20 km) goes to the Plateau, from where there is a superb view of the Qooroq Ice fjord, the stranded icebergs on the moraine and the enormous glacier at the head of the fjord. On the way back, you can be lucky to find minerals and stones, for instance, the shining “moonstone” (Labradorit).
Day 7:
Return by the King’s Road to Itilleq harbour from where the boat will take you to Qassiarsuk where the Viking Eric the Red settled in 982. The Norse ruins are well preserved.
