Daily Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival – Keflavík – Reykjavík
Pick up the rental car at Keflavík international airport upon arrival and drive to Reykjavík where you stay the first night. Depending on your arrival time, an optional visit to the Blue Lagoon may be possible.
Day 2: Reykjavík – Golden Circle
Start your Iceland exploration by visiting three of Iceland’s best known sights of the famous Golden Circle: Þingvellir National Park, the site of the first parliament, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a place of great geological interest; the highly geothermal Geysir area with Strokkur spouting a column of water into the air every 5-10 minutes and impressive Gullfoss waterfall, which flows in two cascades into the deep gorge of Hvítá glacial river.
Day 3: Borgarfjörður – Reykholt
Today you will enter a world that not every tourist gets to see in Iceland – the majestic Borgarfjörður area: setting of many Icelandic Sagas, home of Europes most powerful hot spring and known for its pristine Icelandic nature. You will enjoy the waterfalls Hraunfossar and Barnafossar just as the impressive force of Deildartunguhver hot spring.
Day 4: Snæfellsnes
Today you will explore one of the most beautiful parts of Iceland, the Snæfellsnes peninsula, which is often playfully called „Little Iceland“, as you can find all natural phenomena in Iceland there: lava fields, volcanic craters, glacier, waterfalls, sandy beaches, charming fishing towns, bird cliffs and more. On Snæfellsnes peninsula you will also find one of the most photographed Icelandic mountains – Mr.Kirkjufell.
Day 5: Snæfellsnes – Reykjavik
This day you can spend however it suits you best: If you didn’t make it to explore all of Snæfellsnes yesterday, you can spend more time on the peninsula. As well you can head towards Reykjavik if you prefer and enjoy the capital vibes after a few more stunning stops on the way.
Day 6: Reykjavík – Keflavík – Departure
Drive to Keflavík airport in time for check in for your international flight.
If your flight departs late afternoon, then you have the possibility to add an optional whale watching boat tour in the morning, drive around the Reykjanes peninsula or visit the Blue Lagoon before dropping of the rental car at Keflavík airport.
