  • Typical Icelandic farm
  • Icelandic domestic animals

Itinerary

The university town of Akureyri with a population of about 18.000 is the administrative and cultural center of northern Iceland. There are several interesting museums, theatre, art galleries, interesting architecture, cosy cafés and more. The town boast of lush vegetation giving it a special atmosphere any time of the year. Autumn is particularly beautiful when nature starts changing to its Autumn glow. Colourful 19th and early 20th-century wooden houses stand out as the snow covers the land during winter months.

On our 4-hour tour, you get a glimpse into the history and culture of the charming Akureyri and enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding countryside. If weather permits we may take a drive up to the hills above Akureyri from where on a clear day we can enjoy marvellous views over the town, the surrounding mountains, the fjord and all the way out to the open sea.

We visit one of the valleys of Eyjafjörður (in winter the destination may depend on weather and road conditions). Apart from enjoying the beautiful landscape, we will also visit a typical Icelandic country home/farm where we enjoy light refreshments and have the possibility for a close look at some Icelandic domestic farm animals.
