The old herring meal and oil processing factory in Hjalteyri was the largest of its kind in Iceland. The factory shut down in 1966 and now hosts various activities.

- Transfers to/from Hjalteyri is not included. The local schedule bus does not go into the village of Hjalteyri, so this option is suitable for self-drive travellers.
